What is bill battle?

Bill Battle is a former American football player and coach. He was born on August 16, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama. Battle played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the 1961 National Championship team. After a brief stint in the NFL, he returned to Alabama as an assistant coach under legendary coach Bear Bryant.

In 1970, Battle took over as head coach at the University of Tennessee, where he led the team to three bowl games in his six-year tenure. After coaching, Battle worked as an executive in the sports marketing industry before eventually returning to the University of Alabama as the athletic director in 2013.

During his time as athletic director, Battle oversaw significant improvements to the university's athletic facilities and programs. He retired from the position in 2017 and was succeeded by Greg Byrne. Battle remains a prominent figure in the world of college athletics and continues to be involved in various charitable and community initiatives.
